Well, one year came and went – it was fun, we learned a
lot about each other, ourselves, our marriage, who makes the bed, who takes out
the trash… but year two was even better! Looking back from June 2011 to June
2012 a lot has happened! For our anniversary this year we thought we’d keep it
pretty low key! My anniversary present was a trip to Virginia! (Which, I will
blog about soon!) and Thomas {finally} got an iPhone! What a sweetie though… he
let me get the new one and he took the one I was using – better camera on the
4S verses the 4.
On our actual anniversary we woke up and headed out for a
hike! We went to Red Rock and decided we would do Ice Box Cannon. Little did we
know it was a 2.5 mile in and 2.5 mile out hike – round trip of 5 miles! And…
it was a “difficult” hike at that. We pushed each other to go further and keep
positive attitudes. Thomas was so cute he kept asking how I was doing and how
my knee was holding up. Sometimes even over difficult rocks or areas he would
hold out his hand to make sure I was okay. About every time I politely declined
and did it myself. It was so nice to be able to accomplish “hard things” on my
own. But, it taught me a very valuable lesson about my marriage. My husband is
my rock and truly wants nothing but the best for me. He is constantly there holding
out his hand to help me through whatever life throws my way. Whether it’s a
long day at the office, a moment of self-doubt or low self-confidence, bad
days, good days, happy moments, difficult moments…. He’s there through it all.
And because he is there I don’t have
to do it alone. It was so nice overcoming the enormous rocks and seeing his
smiling face at the end; knowing he was so proud of me!
After our hike we spent a little bit of the afternoon in
the pool. It was a HOT summer days and nothing sounded better than a quick dip
in the pool. We ended up floating around and talking about some of our favorite
memories from the past year. We concluded our evening with some yummy dinner
{Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta from Pinterst! FABULOUS!} and Netflix! We are both
so excited to see what this year of marriage has in store for us!
